Ken Vallario
Born August 2nd, 1975 in Miami, Florida.
At the age of 12 he moved to rural north Florida and graduated from Florida State University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Afterwards, he moved to New York City to pursue his art career.
After a series of group shows in New York he had his first solo exhibition in 2005 at the Melody Weir Gallery in Chelsea.
The following year he debuted in Philadelphia at the Qbix Gallery with his show Manifest Destiny.
Qbix gallery now represents his work.
Ken Vallario’s paintings are an attempt at synthesis, a response to the 20th century urge toward dissection.
His figures are fragments collecting themselves into being, hoping for some of the classical beauty that we put aside during the birth of the industrial age.
The themes running through his work are historical, mystical, idea-driven characters meditating on self-discovery, a metaphor for the artist, for the art viewer, for the human condition.
In Vallario’s work one sees the sadness of our lost past mixed with the hope of new beginnings.
The forbidden fruit of the technological age has burdened us with a new humility, the 21st century drive toward global coexistence.
It is this knowing, this state, this time of history that informs the paintings of Ken Vallario, for like all artists, his purpose is to reflect the spiritual state of the present.
Ken Vallario currently lives with his wife Dusty and his dog Hank in Suffern, NY where he maintains his studio and his studies. In his spare time he has written two books of philosophy and is now beginning work on his first novel. Artitst Ken Vallario
